This original early 20th-century illustrated trade catalog, measuring approximately 8.5 x 6.5 inches, was issued by The New Departure Manufacturing Company of Bristol, Connecticut, and documents their line of mechanical door bells producing “electrical results without batteries.”

The catalog is staple-bound and complete, with a blank rear cover, as issued. Interior pages are fully illustrated and include:

• Push-button and rotary mechanical door bell systems

• Detailed explanations of clockwork-style internal mechanisms

• Stamped brass and cast bronze button plates and turn plates

• Colonial, plain, and decorative architectural designs

• Model numbers with original wholesale price lists

• Finish options including nickel plate, antique brass, old copper, and bronze

• Instructions for installation, ordering, and shipping

• Coverage of the New Departure Automatic Alarm Bell

• Shipping weight tables and packaging quantities

The marketing emphasis on “Electrical Results Without Batteries” reflects a transitional era in American hardware history, when mechanical doorbell systems competed directly with early electric alternatives.
