Offered here is a classic Woodman’s Pal Model 481, a substantial multipurpose chopping and clearing tool featuring the traditional broad machete blade and integrated brush hook.

This is the wood-handle version and includes the correct black sheath.

The first thing that stands out about this example is how solid it feels. The tool alone weighs approximately 1 lb 6.5 oz without the sheath, giving it the heft expected from the traditional Woodman’s Pal design.

Condition:

This is a used working tool and the blade shows it.

There is visible oxidation, patina, staining, finish wear, and discoloration across portions of the blade, cutting edge, and brush hook. The oxidation is cosmetic in nature from age/use and is clearly shown in the photos.

The wood handle is beautiful and is one of the nicest parts of this example. It has attractive grain and a warm finish, with only normal handling marks. It feels solid and substantial with no obvious looseness.

The black sheath is included and shows normal cosmetic wear from use and storage.

This is not a mint collector example, but it is a very solid, complete Model 481 with excellent character and a particularly nice wood handle.
