Winesburg Ohio RPPC Birds Eye Town View 1910 Harbaugh Canal Dover Photo Postcard For Sale

An interesting early real photo postcard showing an elevated panoramic view of Winesburg, Ohio. The photograph is captioned “WINESBURG O” near the lower-left portion of the image and captures a broad stretch of the town, with rooftops, tree-lined properties, outbuildings, and a road extending into the distance.

The foreground includes a prominent gabled house with chimneys, surrounded by leafy trees. Beyond it are additional homes and buildings, fenced yards, and cultivated plots or garden areas. The elevated viewpoint allows the viewer to look across the rooftops and into spaces that would be hidden in an ordinary street-level photograph.

Condition:
Fair vintage condition with significant visible wear. The front has several conspicuous areas of photographic surface loss, particularly along the right edge and in the lower-right portion of the image, as well as smaller white patches in the sky. There is additional corner and edge wear, surface rubbing, scratches, and creasing. Corners are rounded and worn, with a larger pale worn area at the upper-right front corner. Both sides show age toning, spotting, and staining. The reverse has handwritten correspondence and an address, a faded Winesburg postal marking, and dark smudges over portions of the writing. No postage stamp is present. Much of the town scene remains visible despite the damage. Please examine both scans carefully for the exact condition. The postcard pictured is the one offered.
