Original vintage U.S. military rucksack believed to be a WWII-era M1942 mountain rucksack with external tubular metal frame. The pack is constructed of olive drab canvas with web straps, leather reinforcement, multiple exterior pockets, drawstring closure, and metal frame assembly.
This example is especially interesting because it is hand-marked:
“Wm Satterwhite”“Danville Ill”
The name is also written on the leather portion of the frame.
The front flap is marked “U.S.” and also has a painted military-style insignia/emblem.
Condition is heavily used and field-worn. There is staining, fading, fraying, worn stitching, small holes, deterioration to some leather components, and other age-related wear throughout. Some straps and attachment areas show significant wear. Metal frame is present.
This is being sold as found and has not been cleaned or restored.
