Rare named vintage military dress jacket custom tailored for Lloyd C. Busboom, a documented WWII U.S. Army Air Forces B-17 airman who later retired as a Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Air Force.
The interior retains the original personalized label reading “Specially Made for Mr. Lloyd C. Busboom” as well as the original L. Tai Hong Custom Tailor, Queen’s Road, Hong Kong label.
Historical records identify Flight Officer Lloyd C. Busboom as copilot of B-17F 42-30733, 92nd Bombardment Group. His aircraft was lost during a mission on December 31, 1943, and Busboom survived and was recorded as having evaded capture. He subsequently continued his military career and eventually retired as a USAF Lieutenant Colonel.
The jacket features a black formal military-style design with satin lapels, double-breasted metal buttons and distinctive silver-trimmed “H” shoulder boards. The exact significance of the shoulder-board insignia has not been determined.
Important: This listing does not represent the jacket as the uniform Busboom wore during his WWII B-17 service. It is being offered as a later custom-tailored garment bearing his name, together with his documented military history.
Vintage pre-owned condition with age-related wear. Please examine all photographs carefully for condition, details and measurements. An unusual opportunity for a collector of WWII aviation, 8th Air Force, B-17, 92nd Bomb Group or named military memorabilia.
