$124.95

Original World War II Christmas and New Year card associated with pilot Wayne Dodds of the 66th Fighter Squadron, 57th Fighter Group, accompanied by a period newspaper clipping reporting that Dodds was safe after having been listed missing in action.

The colorful folding card features a fighter aircraft and Santa Claus design with an attached identification tag reading “66th Fighter Squadron” and a handwritten holiday message inside. Mounted beneath the card is the original newspaper clipping headed “Lt. Wayne Dodds Safe Once More,” with his photograph and an account of his return after being reported missing. Historical records indicate that Dodds was shot down on December 9, 1944 and returned to the 66th Fighter Squadron on January 15, 1945. He later authored a history of the 57th Fighter Group.

Card and clipping are mounted to a larger sheet as found. Condition shows age, toning, handling wear, folds, old mounting and adhesive, and some edge wear as shown. The handwritten message and clipping remain quite legible. Please review all photos carefully for exact condition and contents.
