Vtge \"M. MILLER\" No. 2, Dbl. Horn \"FRENCH Style\" BLACKSMITH ANVIL 8 lb. 11 oz. For Sale

Here we have a Vintage 8 lb. 11 oz.,\"M. MILLER\" Harleysville, PA No. 2, Double Horn \"FRENCH Style\" BLACKSMITH ANVIL. This anvil was designed based upon the Classic French \"PIG STYLE\" Anvil.As you can see, the anvil is cast with \'M. MILLER\', inside an oval on one side, and on the other side: \"Harleysville, PA No.2\". Per previous sellers of \"Miller\" anvils, the associated history indicates that this one was manufactured by the Late MonroeMiller of Lancaster, PA..I purchased several pieces during an sale of his blacksmithing items. I will be listing a few other pieces over the next several weeks. From a previous history of this maker I have learned that MonroeMiller grew up Amish in Holmes Co. Ohio and later moved to Lancaster, PA wherehe was self-employed, dealing with local foundries and machine shops to producereplacement parts for antique automobiles that were otherwiseunavailable. Some of his pieces include the \'Harleysville, PA\" mark, so he must have lived there at sometime in his working life. This anvil is in very nice used condition. NO chips, cracks, breaks or repairs!The anvil is 10-3/4\" L x 2-3/4\"W (at the feet) x 3-1/2\"H. The top surface plate is 5\" x 2\" and has a protruding corner with a 5/16\" square hole for a small stake hardy.This maker and anvil have been identified by other anvil collectors as \'RARE\', and I\'m sure that it would make a great addition to your collection !!
