Up for sale is a magnificent, mid-century Italian art glass jewelry casket/trinket box commissioned by the prestigious Mottahedeh Design company. Known for importing only the highest tier of European luxury decorative arts, this heavy, hand-blown piece features a striking mezza filigrana style ribbon pattern.

Alternating bands of opaque white (lattimo) and rich chocolate glass radiate outward from the center, creating a stunning, high-contrast graphic effect. The box is securely encased in heavy, ornate gilt-brass (ormolu) hardware, completed by a detailed floral medallion finial on the lid.

This piece is a collector's dream, retaining BOTH of its original vintage paper labels on the base: the gold "A Mottahedeh Design" label and the "Made in Italy" export sticker.

Condition Report

Glass: In very good vintage condition. The glass body is incredibly clean with excellent clarity and vibrant color definition. One tiny nick to the glass (see close-up photo with pointer).
Metalwork: The gilt-brass hardware retains a beautiful, gold patina with a few spots of age-related wear. The metal around the hinge is pulled back a bit, it does align with a slight under bite, opens/closes smoothly.
Base: The bottom shows a clean, authentic hand-blown pontil scar and carries both original vintage labels (as pictured).
