Vtg Lacquered Wood Psychedelic Drip Glaze Canister & Lid MCM Turned Wood Jar A+ For Sale

Today I am offering this fabulous vintage Mid-Century-Modern faux drip glaze hand-turned wooden canister with a matching arabesque-finial perfectly fitted lid.

It is most likely from Japan or another Asian origin.

This is a truly unique hand-crafted mid-century optical illusion piece.

At first glance, this vibrant lidded canister looks exactly like a 1960s~70s psychedelic drip-glaze ceramic jar from makers like California Originals or Maurice of California.

However, this piece is actually meticulously hand-turned from solid wood.

The exterior features a stunning, glossy tiered fluid-art finish drip glaze.

It has a natural blonde wood beige colored top section, a "bleeding"  chocolate brown oxblood middle layer section, and a ochre amber-yellow base.

Interspersed you'll see hints of chartreuse.

The lid has all those colors with some additional bits of red and green.

The interior exposes the beautifully honey colored glaze-coated wood grain and lathe rings.

The underside features a clean, factory-cut muted-red colored protective felt pad covering to safeguard your furniture surfaces from scratches.

It measures approximately as follows:

• 6" high including the lid
• 4½" high without the lid
• 3½" across the top opening

This is perfect as a retro vanity jar, a desktop accessory box, a tea caddy, a unique tobacco humidor canister, or just an eye-catching statement piece.

It is in EXCELLENT vintage pre-owned condition.

The glossy lacquer finish is vibrant with great sheen.

There are no chips, or cracks, no significant or unsightly scratches, or other damage.

The interior wood looks clean and well-sealed.

The felt on the base is fully intact.

The color is glossy with no losses or fading.

Once again I am tempted to keep this beauty but my lack of space and overabundance of opportunities to find decorative collectibles moves me to offer it to you.
