Vtg 1920s Art Deco Mantle Lamps Galleon Ship & Candle Lights - Rewired & Marked:
$325.00

Authentic 1920s Art Deco Twin-Candle Mantle Lamp manufactured by the prominent Mutual Sunset Lamp Company founded in Trenton, New Jersey. Maker’s marks with mold number (MSL Co. 702) are clearly stamped on the backsides of the galleons.

These heavy, well crafted accent pieces measure approximately 13” tall x 10” wide and are beautifully designed. They feature bas-relief medallions depicting classic sailing ships or Spanish Galleons at sea. The central raised relief plaques are flanked stylishly on either side by candle-style light sockets, designed to hold decorative flame or frosted bulbs. The artistry continues down into a heavy, highly textured base designed to look like churning ocean waves. The nautical theme also extends to the top of the lamps where two fish are holding a shell up with their tails.

Condition:

Electrical: Excellent, plug-and-play condition. These lamps have been professionally rewired - wiring, sockets, covered cord, and reproduction candle covers are all new. An on/off turn switch is located on the back of the base.

The pinkish textured light bulbs are vintage and are included, along with 4 other vintage chandelier bulbs of varying colors (see photos.) I can’t guess what their life expectancy might be. I also took photos of the lamps with new LED flame style frosted chandelier bulbs; those bulbs are not included. The vintage bulbs are beautiful but run hot, especially compared to the LED bulbs. LED bulbs in an amber color might be nice option.

Photos have been included of the lamps turned off using different bulbs and changes in the light levels. As the room became darker the medallion of the ship became a dramatic silhouette.

Cosmetic: Wonderful vintage condition. The original finish shows an authentic patina that has been lightly and safely wiped down to protect its aged character without use of chemical agents. The original gold tone paint has not been repainted. No cracks or structural damage to the cast metalwork.

These are exceptionally solid, beautifully designed statement pieces for a fireplace mantle, library desk, den, console table, or maritime-themed display.

Lamps will be packed with care and shipped fully insured. Weight is 9 lbs.
