Description

This beautiful creative kokeshi, titled “Harumachizuki,” expresses the anticipation of spring through a delicate plum blossom design.
The sculptural form combines carved details with a heated iron technique, creating a delicate dotted texture while beautifully showcasing the natural grain of the wood.
At approximately 8.3 inches (21 cm) tall and weighing about 994 g, it has a substantial and refined presence.
Unlike small, inexpensive souvenir-type kokeshi, this is a carefully crafted artistic piece with distinctive three-dimensional details and a strong sense of craftsmanship.
“Harumachizuki” is still featured in the Usaburo Kokeshi catalog today.
