Vintage Hand Painted Tlaquepaque Mexican Pottery Vase / Planter
Beautiful vintage Mexican Tlaquepaque pottery vase or planter with an earthy, hand-painted folk-art design.
The piece has a matte opaque olive-green ground decorated with large rounded flowers in shades of terracotta, peach and creamy white.
Flowing foliage in deep blue, dark green, lighter green and white surrounds the flowers, with hand-painted blue banding around the shoulder.
The decoration continues around the entire piece, so it displays beautifully from several angles.
The underside has a rectangular impressed mark that appears to read “MADE IN MEXICO,” along with additional handwritten markings.
Measurements:
7.75” tall
6” across at widest point
3.5” opening
4.5” base
Condition:
Good vintage condition with surface wear, rubbing, scratches, small paint losses and irregularities consistent with age and handmade pottery.
There is visible wear around the upper rim and throughout the painted surface. This is typical of these pieces from this time period. Please examine all photographs closely as they are an important part of the condition description.
The irregular form, brushwork and surface variations are characteristic of its handmade nature and give this piece wonderful rustic character.
A striking piece of vintage Mexican folk pottery for a Southwestern, Spanish Colonial, hacienda, rustic or eclectic interior.
