Beautiful vintage Takahashi ceramic dog bookend featuring a Collie/Sheltie-style dog in brown, tan and cream tones.
The dog has a glossy intentional crackle-glaze finish with a black oval base accented by a thin gold band. Comparable Takahashi bookends are documented with this same deliberately crackled finish.The underside retains the original gold foil label marked:

There is an access opening/stopper area on the underside. Takahashi produced hollow ceramic bookends that could be filled through the bottom with sand or similar material to provide additional weight.This example is currently unfilled and weighs approximately 12 ounces.
