Genuine vintage Simplex Patent Kettle, made in England by Newey & Bloomer. This is solid copper construction with a bright chrome-plated exterior, the British-made stovetop kettle that has been a kitchen classic for nearly a century. The base is clearly stamped THE \"SIMPLEX\" PATENT KETTLE, GUARANTEED SOLID COPPER, MADE IN ENGLAND, PATENTS Nos 400709-402190, REGD No 786743. That stamp places its design in the 1930s, and kettles bearing it were produced through the mid-century.
Features include the signature perforated heat-collecting base ring that speeds up boiling, a black turned-wood swing handle on chrome bail arms, a domed lid with a black knob finial, and a tin-lined copper interior.
CONDITION, please read and review all photos. The chrome exterior is bright overall, with light rainbow heat tint on the lower body and normal stovetop discoloration and soot on the perforated base ring. The black paint on the wooden handle is worn, crazed, and flaking in spots. The interior shows mineral scale and some dark spotting from use. The underside of the base shows wear and discoloration around the stamped marks. No stand or trivet is included. Sold as shown.
A great piece for a vintage or farmhouse kitchen, a collector of British-made housewares, or anyone who wants a solid copper kettle built to last.
