Vintage Shipibo Conibo Polychrome Pottery Olla Vase Jar Peru Amazon Tribal Art For Sale

Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic vintage Shipibo-Conibo polychrome pottery storage jar from the Peruvian Amazon, dating circa mid-to-late 20th century. This exceptional piece features the traditional, intricate geometric Kene maze pattern hand-painted using natural mineral slips and earth pigments.

The top rim is in stable vintage condition with an organic, slightly irregular hand-coiled profile. There are no major chips or structural cracks, only minor natural pitting and light wear consistent with age and authenticity.

The interior features the original deep honey-amber, glossy organic tree resin coating used traditionally to waterproof the vessel. The bottom base is completely unmarked and unsigned, showing a natural flat wear footprint with authentic scuffs from prior household or ethnographic utility. Beautiful character variations and light open-air pit-firing clouds are visible on the lower ochre-slipped bowl.

This is a premier addition for collectors of Amazonian, Indigenous, or South American ethnographic folk art. Please see all the listing photos for an exact look at the craftsmanship, and vintage condition.
