Vintage Oklahoma Rose Rock Folk Art Sculpture
Wonderful handmade Oklahoma folk-art arrangement featuring genuine rose rocks displayed as flowers on wire stems.
This unusual piece measures approximately 7 1/2" tall x 3 1/4" wide x 2" deep.
The arrangement contains six rose rocks total — five smaller rose rocks plus the substantial rose-rock base. Decorative wire accents include a charming red ladybug, cattail, toadstool/mushroom, and two additional small naturalistic accents.
Rose rocks are not ordinary stones. They are distinctive rose-shaped formations composed primarily of barite crystals and sand. The famous Oklahoma examples formed within the Garber Sandstone of central Oklahoma and are extremely uncommon worldwide. Oklahoma officially designated the rose rock as its State Rock in 1968, and Noble, Oklahoma later became known as the Rose Rock Capital.
The individual formations resemble flower petals, making them especially well suited to this type of handmade Oklahoma folk art.
This piece appears vintage and has wonderful rustic character. Exact age and maker are unknown. Please examine photos closely for condition and details. The wire stems and small decorations are delicate and will be packed carefully for shipping.
A wonderful piece of Oklahoma history, folk art, mineral collecting, or Route 66/Southwestern décor.
