Vintage North Carolina Forest Service Pilot Wings 1977-1989 State Agency For Sale

This exceptionally rare, authentic North Carolina Forest Service pilot wing insignia offers a rare look at pilot wings from the late 1970s to 1980s, representing the courageous aviators who flew critical wildfire suppression and aerial observation missions for the state. Sourced directly from the highly curated estate collection of a former NASA Associate Director, this un-hallmarked, clutch-back flight badge is a historically significant specimen explicitly marked with the "NC Dept. of Natural Resources & Community Development" shield, a specific department title that narrows its manufacturing window to a strict timeline between 1977 and 1989. The front features a beautiful, deep bronze-tone finish with incredible feather detailing, while the reverse side showcases a pristine, untouched texture highlighted by the gorgeous rainbow heat-tarnish halos surrounding the factory-soldered posts. Presented flawlessly on its original custom-typed estate card backing, this hyper-scarce state agency wing avoids the common market flooding of standard commercial carrier pieces, serving as an absolute crown jewel for advanced law enforcement, forestry, or state-level aviation insignia collectors.

Very good condition. Please see photos for condition.
