Vintage Latvian Folk Art Wooden Viking Ship Plaque Natural Baltic Amber For Sale

Vintage Latvian Folk Art Hand-Carved Wooden Wall Plaque — Viking Sailing Ship with Natural Baltic Amber InlaysUp for sale is a truly magnificent piece of mid-century Baltic woodworking. This large, massive decorative wall plaque (approx. 26x33cm) features a beautifully executed, high-relief hand carving of a traditional Viking style longship or drakkar sailing through heavy, stylized Baltic Sea waves under a carved sky. What makes this piece incredibly special and unique is the inclusion of three large, authentic pieces of natural raw Baltic amber (succinite). The artisan cleverly inlaid these rich honey, egg-yolk yellow, and cherry-brown amber stones right into the crests of the carved waves. They still have their natural organic crust on the edges, proving their raw, genuine origin. The plaque is carved from a solid, heavy piece of wood that has aged into a wonderful warm golden-brown tone with a smooth semi-matte finish. The reverse side features a built-in metal hanging mount, completely ready for display. The condition is exceptional. The wood is stable with no cracks or splits, and all three amber pieces are securely set with no loose parts. It is a stunning display piece, perfect for anyone who appreciates nautical history, Viking theme decor, maritime arts, or genuine Baltic amber collectibles. Please take a close look at the high-resolution photos with the ruler to fully appreciate the texture and craftsmanship.
