This is a stunning, large-sized globular Chinese porcelain teapot decorated in a nice, rich underglaze cobalt blue with hand-painted prunus floral branches.
This piece is completely handmade, featuring a beautiful, slightly blue cast to the glaze typical of the late Qing Dynasty to early Republic period (1900-1909).
The inside rim of the pot, the rim of the lid, and the concave foot are traditionally unglazed. The lower portion of the body features an unglazed bisque ring, historically designed to prevent the teapot from slipping inside a burner or warmer.
It features traditional side loops designed for attaching a cane or bamboo overhead handle, a lovely detailed hand-formed finial on the lid, and a built-in ceramic strainer inside behind the spout. Provenance and ownership history are available upon request.
Condition:
Excellent vintage condition! Unlike many surviving pieces from this era, this authentic handmade teapot is in pristine shape. The interior is very clean with no tea stains, and the exterior is immaculate.
There are absolutely no cracks, chips, fleabites, hairline fractures, or repairs. A truly exceptional, clean showcase or functional piece for collectors.
