Vintage Hand Tinted Photo Oakland City Hall Lake Merritt CA Putnam Studios Era:
$285.00

This original circa 1915–1920s vintage hand-tinted photograph, attributed to Putnam Studios of Los Angeles, California, features a panoramic view looking across Lake Merritt toward the historic Oakland City Hall building in Oakland, California, presented custom framed and ready to hang. The composition is framed through an arching California live oak tree overlooking lush lakeside flower gardens and calm water reflecting the early city skyline. The underlying silver gelatin photograph is hand-colored with translucent oil pigments across the flora, water, and sky.
The original print measures 7.5 by 9.5 inches on heavy photographic board stock. Mounted in a quality period-style frame with an archival acid-free mat. Condition of the underlying photo shows a crease on the top-left corner tip along with minor edge softening and light age toning on the reverse, while the main visual field retains rich, vibrant color with no tears or heavy surface loss.
Wood frame measures 17 1/8\" X 14 1/8\".
