This is an authentic Griswold No. 8 cast iron skillet, in the pattern 704H, made during the Small Block trademark era (1939-1957) in Erie, PA. This era represents the final chapter of Griswold's independent production before the company changed hands in 1957. Skillets from this era are known for their clean casting, smooth bottoms, and lighter weight compared to the earlier heat ring models. Collectors value these pieces because they represent Griswold's last true production era before new ownership.
