Vintage Edward’s 730-S Coachman 4 Panel Algerian Birdseye Briar Estate Pipe For Sale

Vintage Estate Edward’s 730-S Coachman 4 Panel Algerian Briar Pipe – Beautiful Birdseye & Cross Grain
For sale is a beautiful vintage estate Edward’s 730-S Coachman 4 Panel Algerian Briar pipe. This is a gorgeous example of vintage Edward’s craftsmanship, featuring a deep, rich tone and striking natural briar grain.
The bowl displays beautiful Birdseye grain along with impressive horizontal cross-grain, giving this pipe tremendous visual character. Though the nomenclature is faint, the 730-S stamping is on the shank along with Edward’s. Much of the original nomenclature has been softened or buffed away over the years, likely from decades of cleaning, polishing, handling, and use.

There is honest evidence of age and use, which should be considered by the buyer. The stem has tooth marks, the rim shows some charring, and there are several small nicks, dings, and handling marks consistent with an older estate pipe. Please examine all photographs carefully, as the photographs are an important part of the description and accurately show the pipe’s present condition.
The original nomenclature has experienced some loss from years of polishing and buffing.
There is also a marking on the underside of the shank that appears to possibly be a 3 or 5. I cannot positively identify this marking, so I am not representing it as a confirmed grade.
The bowl is clean and free of built-up debris, and this beautiful briar is ready for continued enjoyment, further restoration according to the new owner’s preferences, or a place in an Edward’s collection.
A LITTLE ABOUT EDWARD’S PIPES
Edward’s Pipes are highly appreciated by collectors of vintage American pipes and estate briar. Edward’s produced a variety of classic shapes and finishes, and older examples are particularly appealing because each pipe develops its own character through age, use, handling, and years of care.
This 730-S Coachman is an especially attractive example with its distinctive four-panel shape, Algerian briar, rich coloration, and exceptional natural grain.
This is not a brand-new pipe—and that’s part of its appeal. It has clearly been enjoyed over the years. The signs of use, along with the beautiful grain and aged color of the briar, give this pipe the character that collectors look for in a vintage estate pipe.
I have seen other Edward’s pipes listed, but this particular example really caught my eye. The grain, color, four-panel design, and overall presence make this a very handsome vintage Edward’s.
Although I will hate to see this one leave my collection, I’ll be happy knowing it is going to someone who genuinely appreciates Edward’s Pipes, vintage briar, and the history and character of estate pipes.
Please examine all photographs carefully before purchasing. The photographs are considered part of the description and show the pipe’s condition, markings, grain, and imperfections.
A wonderful opportunity to add a vintage Edward’s 730-S Coachman Algerian Briar estate pipe to your collection or proudly put it into your smoking rotation.
