Dated 5-11-36 ... ribs, rails and a sunlit floorDESCRIPTIONThis 8x10 black and white photograph looks down the length of an all-metal cargo cabin from the 1930s, and it is as much about structure as it is about airplanes. Closely spaced ring frames arch through the fuselage overhead, corrugated metal sheets line the lower walls and the floor, and heavy rails with tie-down fittings run the length of the deck. In the foreground, a bulkhead pierced with large round lightening holes fills the left side of the frame. Sunlight from the cabin windows throws a row of bright patches across the floor, and a placard on the door at the right edge begins AUXILIARY EX. At the far end of the cabin you can make out a closed door, a molded oval panel and a wall-mounted fire extinguisher.The face of the print carries a white ink number and date in the lower right corner, 9270, C-193 and 5-11-36. The aircraft type is not named on the print, so it is offered as an interior study of a 1930s all-metal cargo transport rather than as a specific model. The image is sharp, with a strong tonal range and fine detail in the rivets, ribs and corrugations. The border shows a faint gray smudge near the upper left and light yellow toning along the left edge. The corners and edges appear intact, and no tears, creases or fading are visible in the scans.The reverse has an amber toned adhesive residue over most of the paper from its former album page, with lighter swirled areas where it is thinner and small patches of gray album paper fibers along the left and top edges. There are no stamps, writing or captions on the back. The residue is on the reverse only and does not affect the image side. Please review all photos closely, as they are part of the description.
