Vintage 1930s Philco Tube wooden table radio unrestored For Sale

The Philco Corporation manufactured radios in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, growing into one of the largest radio producers in the United States during the 1930s. These domestic tabletop receivers were built to bring news, music, and entertainment directly into family living rooms during the height of the golden age of radio. Engineers and cabinetmakers constructed these housings using stamped metal chassis enclosed in wood cabinets with decorative veneers to appeal to contemporary home interior styles.

Families gathered around these receivers in the evenings to listen to popular broadcasts, serial dramas, and presidential speeches. The radio served as the primary household communication and entertainment hub until television sets became widespread in homes after the Second World War. As newer solid-state electronics emerged, these heavy tube-powered wooden receivers became obsolete and were frequently discarded or relegated to attics and garages.
