Fantastic piece of early 20th-century industrial advertising: an authentic, vintage Federal Varnishes "Bronzing Liquid" 1-quart metal tin. Manufactured by the Federal Varnish Co. at their historic 2841–2849 Irving Park Boulevard location in Chicago, Illinois, this flat-top rectangular can is a wonderful survivor from the 1920s to 1930s.This specialized liquid was originally used by craftsmen and painters to mix with metallic powders for high-end gilding and ornamental ironwork.
