MYLFLAM was a well-known German lighter manufacturer, recognized for its distinctive designs and innovative lighter mechanisms. The Duplex and Diplomat models were associated with the MYLFLAM/Zünders “Double Automatic” mechanism.
Double Automatic Mechanism
This mechanism offers two operating modes. Pressing the lever near its end allows the lighter to operate in self-extinguishing mode. Pressing the middle section engages the mechanism to keep the flame burning until the snuffer cap is manually closed. This design allowed the lighter to remain lit when passed to another person.
Design & Appearance
The lighter features an attractive gold-tone exterior decorated with an elaborate arabesque design, complemented by glossy black lacquer details. The intricate ornamentation consists of flowing, interlacing lines and fine decorative patterns, giving this vintage table lighter a distinctive and elegant appearance.
Condition
The lighter is in very good vintage condition, with only minor signs of use. The gold-tone finish retains its attractive glossy appearance, although some superficial scratches are visible from handling. There are also a few small copper- or brass-colored spots on the finish, possibly remnants of previous corrosion. No major damage is apparent.
The lighter has not been tested with fuel. Its working condition is therefore unknown.
