Mid-20th-century cast metal sculpture of a squirrel perched alertly on a textured log base.
• Dimensions: Approximately 4.5” long × 1.5” wide/deep × 2.5” tall
• Weight: 7.4 oz (nearly 8 oz)
• Material: Cast metal with copper/bronze appearance and dark patina
This piece is strongly attributed to the German-American sculptor Henry Van Wolf (1898–1982) based on style, subject, and known comparable examples of his small wildlife figures. He founded the Valley Artists Guild (now California Art League) in 1948 and is known for animal bronzes, public monuments, and smaller cast figures. Many of his desk-size animal sculptures were produced in the mid-20th century; signed examples exist, though this one has no visible marks.
Perfect as a paperweight, desk ornament, or addition to a wildlife or California artist collection. Displays beautifully.
