The Hotel Martin was a six-story landmark in downtown Milwaukee that stood at the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and Van Buren Street from 1889 until its demolition in 1958.Key Milestones in History - 1889: The building originally opened as an apartment structure located at what was then 201 Wisconsin Avenue (later readdressed as 707 E. Wisconsin Avenue).
- 1915: The fireproof-constructed structure was completely converted and rebuilt to operate as the HOTEL MARTIN
- Management: For a period in its operating lifetime, it was managed under the Ernst Clarenbach Systems, a notable regional hotel accounting and management method.
- The Ground Floor: The first level housed popular social spots over the years, transitioning from the Mir-O-Bar into Martin\'s Caribbean Cocktail Lounge and Dining Room, which served seafood, steaks, ribs, and barbecue chicken. In its final years, rooms could be rented for as low as $2.
- 1958: The building was pulled down. The former site of the hotel is now occupied by the US Bank Center, the tallest skyscraper in Wisconsin
