VINTAGE 1944 REDWOOD NATIONAL PARK 12" PORCELAIN SIGN SMOKEY BIGFOOT NEED YOU For Sale

Smokey and Bigfoot both pointing straight out of the plate over a giant orange YOU - the recruiting-poster composition, done in the series style. 1944 is the year the Smokey campaign began, the earliest date the series uses, and it reads across a room better than any other plate here.

Marked on the face: "Redwood National Park", "SMOKEY & BIGFOOT NEED", "YOU", "KEEP THE REDWOODS SAFE", and "Made in U.S.A.", the year, and "U.S. Department of Agriculture and State of California" around the lower rim.

Size: approximately 12" in diameter (305 mm), measured by the seller.

Judge the condition from the photographs - the sign is shown from every angle, including the reverse and the mounting holes, and nothing is cropped out. On porcelain of this age, fine specking in the enamel, small chips at the edges and wear around the mounting holes are normal and are not faults. After decades of age and storage a sign may also sit slightly warped or a little bent rather than perfectly flat - it still hangs and displays fine, and you will not notice it once it is on a wall. This one is not cracked and has not been restored, repainted or touched up. Want a close-up of a particular area, or an exact measurement, before you buy?
