What the Effect Does:

Three Coin Con [pioneered by legend Paul Diamond] blends the suspense of the classic Three Shell Game with a fast-paced coin Monte. Using specialized shimmed coins [two shim nickels and one shim penny] along with caps or covers, spectators try to track the penny under a set of covers—even when one cover is clearly marked. After eliminating one cover and narrowing the odds down to a 50/50 choice, the spectator guesses where the penny is, only to discover that the coin has magically transformed into a dime!

Why Add It to Your Repertoire:

Paul Diamond was famous for creating practical, commercial gems, and Three Coin Con delivers maximum audience engagement with minimal pocket space. It presents a familiar street-gambling theme that naturally hooks spectators while using precision-made shimmed coins to make the moves virtually effortless. The unexpected kicker ending—where the target coin changes denomination entirely—flips the classic Monte routine on its head, leaving audiences completely stumped and entertained.
