BURCOTE BROOK, ABINGDON
An original double sided typed letter signed from John Masefield to Mrs Talbot Rice. Headed paper of Burcote Brook, Abingdon where Masefield lived between 1930 to his death in 1967.
16 lines [double sided], signed in ink by Masefield; discussing the receiving of a Russian art book, listening to a Russian Concerto [in spite of the War], commenting ...\'I suppose all the dancers are now at Hollywood, being offered princely sums, to cut out that high-kicking stuff and take to jazz\'.
David and Tamara Talbot Rice, a distinguished husband and wife team of art historians, shared a profound and lifelong friendship with the British Poet Laureate John Masefield. Bound together by the vibrant literary and academic circles of Oxford and the Cotswolds, their connection deepened across generations. Masefield maintained a prolific, decades-long correspondence with the couple and became a devoted, affectionate mentor to their daughter, Elizabeth.
Measuring approx 17cm by 13cm.
Condition: In good condition as seen, residue of old tape mount to verso, old folds.

- We will ensure that all items sold are packed and distributed securely and professionally. We will respond to any comments or queries as quickly as possible. When possible we always combine postage on multiple items purchased. Prices charged will depend on combined weight and size after being securely packed. Items up to 5kg and a maximum size of 90cms (hxwxd) and no longer than 60cms can be sent via Royal Mail using the Printed Paper service. Items larger and heavier than this have to be sent via courier service.
- We offer a multi-ship service and can hold items until larger consignments can be sent. This helps reduce postage costs greatly, especially for overseas buyers.
