St Bruno was born in 1030 to a prominent family in Cologne (Germany). He was well educated in Reims, France in Theology and ordained a priest around 1055. He was an excellent educator, theologian and philosopher. During this tumultous time in Europe he was active in the Churchand fighting against a violent bishop who had no priestly vocation and laterassisting Pope Urban II in his reforms and his against the antipope Clement III. He was offered a bishopric but felt he was called to a contemplative life, and eventually with several companions, founded the Carthusian order with emphasis on a life of poverty and isolation, devoted to prayer and study. He died in 1101.Since the Carthusian Order maintains a strict observance of humility, Saint Bruno was never formally canonized, but in the year 1623 Pope Gregory XVincluded him in the German Roman Calendarfor celebration on 6 October.
The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medalsand pictures are home-made, created using a \"greeting card\" programon a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper. Although theyare not like the usual smaller professionally printed prayer cards, most of ourcustomers prefer them since they are like a pamphlet with 4 \"pages\"and several images, prayers, patronages and often other information about thesaint or Catholic devotion.
