Replica Stain Glass Saint Mary Magdalene Maria Magdalena Signed A.F. Laub-10" x 8" -
1970's or 1980's era
Please see last 2/3 photos as bottom orange glass has a crack and lead has been bent.
This image is from the Marienkrönungsfenster (Coronation of the Virgin Window), located in the Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) in Germany
This specific section depicts Saint Mary Magdalene (Maria Magdalena) holding her traditional attribute, an ointment jar.
AF LAUB (The Glass Studio / Craftsman
The engraved signature "AF LAUB" on the bottom right corner identifies the specific artist, craftsman, or studio that created the leaded panel surrounding the print. While J. Hanhart supplied the central printed artwork, AF Laub was the glassblower or studio artisan who custom-framed it.
The actual stain glass window was created around 1509 by the Meister von Sankt Severin (Master of Saint Severin).
The text at the bottom of the central pane directly identifies it in German: "Maria Magdalena, 1509 Kölner Dom, nördl. Seitenschiff".
This specific pane from the late-Gothic stained glass windows located in the north aisle of the Cologne Cathedral
This artisan took the art print, designed a traditional border around it using textured cathedral art glass (the amber, green, and blue sections), cut the glass, and hand-soldered everything together using standard structural lead came framework.
The Glass Studio Assembly: A master craftsman like AF LAUB would lead a small boutique workshop (The Glass Studio) to hand-finish the framing, leading, or custom structural housing (like brass carriage cases or wooden clock frames) commissioned by the commercial distributor, Hanhart.
