Thisis a antique copper theca with silverplated front (silverplating is mostlygone), inside a relic (of the clothing) of Saint Colette,relic in place and wax seal intact ,but two threads are broken.Thereis some dust in the thrca. Comeswith it’s orginal document signed in 1858. Comesfrom a convent in Belgium.Diameter 1,5 inch.Shipping and handling US$ 37.00 byinsured priority mail and tracking number. Carpenter‘s daughter whose parents were near60 at her birth. Colette wasorphanedat age 17, and left in the careof aBenedictineabbot. Her guardian wanted her tomarry, butColette was drawn toreligious life. She initially tried to join theBeguinesandBenedictines,but failed in her September1402, at age 21, she became ananchoress–walled into acellwhose only opening was a grilled window into achurch. She had visions in whichSaintFrancisof Assisiordered her to restore the Rule ofSaintClaretoits original severity. When she hesitated, she was struckblindforthree days andmutefor three more; she saw this as a sign to takeaction. Colette tried to follow her mission byexplaining it, but had no success. Realizing she needed more authority behindher words, she walked to Nice,France, barefoot and clothed in ahabitofpatches, to meetPeter de Luna, acknowledged by theFrenchastheschismaticPopeBenedict XIII. He professed her aPoorClare, and was so impressed that he made her superioress of allconventsofMinoresses that she might reform or found, and a missioner toFranciscanfriarsandtertiaries. Colette helpedSaintVincent Ferrerhealthepapalschism. She founded seventeenconvents; one branch ofthePoor Claresis still known as theColettines. She was known for a deep devotion to Christ’sPassion with an appreciation and care foranimals. Colette fasted everyFriday, meditating on the Passion. After receivingHoly Communion, shewould fall intoecstasiesfor hours. She foretold the date of herowndeath.
