Up for sale is a rare, original early 20th-century (c. 1920s–1930s) cast aluminum regulatory traffic sign manufactured by the J. Horni Safety Sign Co. of Newark, N.J. Horni was a premier early maker of municipal traffic controls, fire alarms, and street safety equipment.
This heavy-duty sign features bold, spelled-out raised lettering reading "SPEED LIMIT TWENTY MILES" surrounded by a thick, raised outer border. Cast aluminum signs with fully spelled-out speed limits from this era are exceptionally difficult to find.
