24 x 16 inches; With printer's credit recto. A beautifully-printed and exceptionally scarce poster created for the 1888 National Democratic Convention in St. Louis. Shown are vingetted portraits of candidate Grover Cleveland and his wife Francis Folsom Cleveland, the youngest first lady and an immensely popular figure in her day. They are portrayed alongside Lady Columbia, a bald eagle, and iconic architecture of both views of St. Lous and D.C. This poster was produced shortly before the convention by the Tracy Printing & Publishing Co. of Nashville. Because it was made for the convention, and not the general election, it is very rare with only a few extant copies known.Some loss to bottom left and light staining to bottom edge, otherwise bright and fine condition.
