Pr Antique Northern Plains/ Plateau Beaded High Top Hide Moccasins B210 For Sale

These beaded high-top moccasins feature classic design elements characteristic of the Plateau and Northern Plains regions (Nez Perce or Crow tribes) dating from late 19th C. to early 20th C.

The beadwork displays multi-colored five-petal flowers and leaves. The combination of floral patterns with traditional indigenous art was prominent in the Plateau and Woodland regions. The soft, tanned hide ankle cuffs have stamped brass buttons. These buttons were high-value trade goods at the time. The leather is very supple, as pictured and the thread is sinew, not cotton, also pictured.

The condition is excellent. Two of the 6 metal buttons are oxidized, as pictured and the cuff on one has come apart at the seam and needs repair.
