itle: Vintage Zuni Brass Metal Turtle Fetish Native American Turquoise Feather Medicine Bundle

Description:

Vintage Native American Zuni turtle fetish carved/cast in brass with a distinctive dark green/black applied patina.

The bird has a turquoise-colored/inlaid eye and an original-looking medicine/offerings bundle secured across the back with sinew or natural fiber. The bundle incorporates feathers and turquoise-colored stone.

This is an unusual example because most Zuni fetishes encountered on the market are carved from stone, antler, bone, shell or turquoise. Comparable late-20th-century Zuni brass/bronze fetishes are documented.

Approximate size: 2½–3 inches long. Please use photographs for exact dimensions and condition.

Attributed culture: Zuni Pueblo / Zuni
Period: Late 20th century, circa 1975–2000
Material: Brass/metal with applied patina, turquoise/stone and natural feather/fiber elements
Condition: Vintage condition with age-related surface wear/patina. Please examine photographs carefully.

I have not established the identity of the individual artist; any signature/marking is difficult to decipher.

Offered as a vintage Native American art/collectible object. No claim is made that it is an ancient or archaeological artifact.
