Pair of Vintage Ornate Gilt Brass Filigree Oval Frames with Portrait Prints
Up for sale is a matching pair of vintage pierced gilt-brass filigree oval frames, each holding a small portrait print under oval glass. The frames are stamped and pierced in an elaborate openwork pattern of scrolls, leaves and flowers rising to a crested top, the kind of decorative frame made in Europe in the early to mid 20th century to display miniature portraits.
One frame holds a print of Frans Hals' famous "Laughing Cavalier." The other holds a print of a Rococo-style lady with powdered curls and a flowered straw hat. Both images are prints, not hand-painted pair, sold together only
