ThePENTEL P225-A Pro-Am Automatic Pencil was produced from early 1977until it was discontinued in 1998.

Pentelstopped putting the detailed YY/MM/DD date code on the internal leadreservoir of the P225-A Pro-Am around 1982, when they transitionedthe barrel labeling from \"m/m\" to \"mm\" andshifted to a cheaper plastic internal structure. Later productionruns of the P225-A (which was fully retired by 1998) sometimesfeatured short two-character codes (last digit of the year plus aletter for the month) stamped on the exterior near the clip, ratherthan the full internal date string.
