Condition Report:

This piece is in good, honest, field-used condition with excellent historical character. The leather shows typical surface crazing, cracking, and minor flaking/loss of the black finish consistent with age, revealing the brown under-leather. The stitching remains intact, holding the box structurally sound. The brass hardware and emblem display a natural, uncleaned patina with minor green verdigris.

Please study the high-resolution photographs carefully, as they serve as the ultimate description of condition and completeness. A wonderful addition to any Indian Wars, Trapdoor Springfield, or late 19th-century American militaria collection!
