IMPECCABLE DEADSTOCK SURVIVOR WITH COMPLETE FAMILY PROVENANCE
A premium-grade, museum-quality example of the historic 1943 World War II Home Front Propaganda Poster (OWI Poster No. 40). This iconic piece features the powerful, morale-boosting text excerpt from President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Annual Message to Congress (State of the Union Address) delivered on January 7, 1943.
Unlike the vast majority of surviving wartime ephemera, this specific specimen was never publicly displayed or institutionally mounted, leaving it in an elite state of physical preservation.
PROVENANCEThis original lithographic propaganda poster features ironclad, traceable provenance. It was officially received by my Grandfather, Principal Milfred Charles (M.C.) Schafer, during his tenure as the founding administrator of Pittsburg Junior High School in Pittsburg, California (serving 1932–1944).
Dispatched directly by the U.S. Government Printing Office, this specific copy was retained immediately from its incoming administrative mail packet and safely preserved in family storage for decades. Because it bypassed active institutional installation, it features an unpunctured, un-adhered physical state uniquely entirely free of standard display defects such as tack pinholes or adhesive tape. The poster has been stored for the last 40 years rolled in archival paper.
