Look at this gorgeous view of the Bay of Naples before tourists with smartphones completely overran the entire shoreline. You have folks just casually pulling ropes on the stone pier of Via Partenope while Mount Vesuvius sits ominously in the background blowing a massive plume of dark smoke. It is a fantastic piece of early twentieth century Italian scenery capturing the classic coastal architecture right on the water while Mother Nature casually threatens the whole city from afar.

This piece of European history is well over a century old and it has definitely been handled a few times. You will notice some soft rounded corners and mild edge wear from sitting in a box for generations. The back is completely unposted with just a faint vintage pencil price scrawled in the top corner. According to ancient Roman legend the poet Virgil put a magical egg into the deep foundations to support the heavy stone fortifications. The local myth states that if the egg ever breaks the castle will completely collapse and trigger disastrous events for the entire city of Naples.
