A striking large vintage Chinese Famille Jaune-style porcelain ginger jar with its original coordinating lid.
Standing approximately 14.5 inches tall, the jar has substantial decorative presence and features a vivid yellow ground with colorful figural and botanical decoration.
The hand-painted-style decoration includes a traditional “Boys at Play” scene with children in a garden setting, surrounded by stylized trees, flowers and ornamental borders. Additional geometric and floral decoration appears around the shoulder, neck, base and domed lid.
The underside bears an underglaze-blue six-character Kangxi-style mark within a double circle. The mark is presented as part of the decorative tradition of the piece and is not being represented as indicating Kangxi-period manufacture.
