Designed by custom knife maker Ken Onion, the Shallot is the largest of Kershaw’s popular “Onion” trio (alongside the smaller Chive and mid-size Leek).
Introduced in the mid-2000s and produced in the USA (Tualatin, Oregon), it features Kershaw’s patented Speed-Safe assisted-opening system.
The all-steel black DLC version (1840CKT) offered a sleek, non-reflective tactical look with excellent corrosion resistance.
The model was discontinued several years ago and is no longer in current production, making clean examples increasingly sought by collectors of Ken Onion / early Speed Safe designs.
