These rare, vintage Canadian bookend art pieces are from Haida Gwaii, British Columbia, formerly known as the Queen Charlotte Islands, Canada. The Haida carved argillite totems and enjoyed creating three-dimensional sculptural pieces.This piece, acquired for a private collection in the 1970's, appears to be one of the earliest resin soapstone replicas of the beaver totem.
