Gustave De Bruyn c1900 Fives Lille Art Nouveau Floral Ewer Pair 4235 Antique For Sale

Exceptional matched pair of Gustave De Bruyn Art Nouveau faience vases, produced at the celebrated Fives-Lille pottery in France, circa 1890–1905.

These substantial 15-inch vases are identified as De Bruyn model 4235, a documented Fives-Lille form from the Art Nouveau period. Each features an elegant elongated ewer-form body with sweeping sculptural handles, richly decorated with hand-painted purple and pink flowers, green foliage, raised enamel accents and gilt detailing.

The combination of sinuous handles, naturalistic floral decoration and elongated proportions beautifully reflects the emerging French Art Nouveau aesthetic of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The undersides bear the impressed 4235 model number, along with additional period production/decorator numbers. Research into model 4235 identifies the form with Gustave De Bruyn\'s Faïencerie de Fives-Lille, an important French ceramics manufacturer whose decorative wares are collected for their distinctive Art Nouveau designs.
