Beautiful hand-painted Russian nesting doll set by artist Elena Filatova of Voronezh, Russia, signed and dated 2003 on the base ("Авт. Е. Филатова. 2003").

The figure is a bride (or praying maiden) in an ivory and cream lace gown, wearing a jeweled headdress with gold accents and white stones, teardrop earrings, and a necklace, with her hands together in prayer. The same design repeats on each of the 5 dolls, hand-painted each time, simplified on the tiny smallest doll. The tall, elongated shape and all-over white lace scrollwork with dotted net headdress are characteristic of the Voronezh style.
