Enola Gay, Hiroshima, Navigator, Dutch Van Kirk, 509th Composite Group,WWII, B29:

Good Evening, I am listingIs one of my best black and white Images of the Enola Gay.It was reproduced from an original negative originallytaken by Max Desfors, Associated Press Pool Photographer on Tinian when the Enola Gay returned from the mission to Hiroshima, nice full length photo of the plane.

I have placed a strip of paper over the photo to prevent unauthorized reproduction of this photo. This Is the autographed photo you will receive, It has a hand signed statement on the photo by the Navigator of the Enola Gay, Theodore "Dutch" Van Kirk. The photo size Is 8 x 10.

Dutch wrote the following on the photograph- " The first atomic was dropped from 30,00 feet. It detonated 43 seconds later, at about 1800 feet above Hiroshima. The city was devastated; however, millions of lives were saved, both Japanese and Allied by the lack of invasion. The war soon ended and the killing stopped."

I have a very limited quantity of this autographed photo.I own an original negative that the photo was reproduced from for Dutch to autograph. A claim that few can make.

Note that this Is a bold very good autograph, signed several years ago during lull moments at our appearances. I wouldestimatethat his statement was hand signed on this photo at least10 or moreyears ago. The last two years of our appearances 2013 and 14 Dutch was havingdifficultywriting more than a sentence.

This statement Is guaranteed to pass any autograph authentication you want to submit It to

The autograph on the photo was autographed with aBlue Stadtler Lumicolor pen which offsets the photo very nicely.

You are purchasing from an Historian who researched 509th Composite Group photos for 25 years. Most photos being sold were "unearthed" by me. I have sold to collectors, historians and dealers. All my photo work was done by a professional street level brick and mortar photo lab. All our photos are sharp, clear as good as originals or better.

The autograph on the photoIs real, actual and obtained by me. ThisIs not ascan, re print, copy or forgery. If you want to read and learn more about the 509th you can purchase a copy of our book "The 509th Remembered" on our site with the same name.

I was elected an honorary member of the 509th In 2001, I have attended all Reunions since 1990, I have been the Reunion Chairman 2001-2006, 2008-2017 Please e-mail me with your questions, I will combine for postal savings. Please see my e-bay rating and comments.

For additional provenance I have shown badges from past shows we have attended and a photo of our booth at CPAC In Washington D.C. In February. 2010 and a photo from our Atlanta appearance, Veterans Day 2013, our last appearance with Dutch was January 2014.
