This desirable edition has the early solid-blue cover design with white lettering. The rear jacket panel lists only the first six Beginner Books, each originally priced at $1.95. The jacket flaps retain the original promotional text and contemporary reviews of The Cat in the Hat.

The book is clean and bright overall with colorful illustrated endpapers and a sound presentation. The original dust jacket remains vivid and attractive, showing normal age-related rubbing and edge wear with a few small chips and tears. Owners address label in the inside of front board.
